STARS Multi Donor Trust Fund (STARS MDTF) supports skills development, training, and vocational education models to harness the potential of India’s young workforce and meet the future demands of India’s rapidly growing economy.

Aligned with the World Bank’s loan support to Ministry of Education Strengthening Teaching and Results for States (STARS) project, and the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the STARS MDTF funds to increase opportunities towards a brighter future for India’s youth.

School to Work Transition

Support innovative models in curriculum and skill development, teacher training, apprenticeship, and career counseling to ensure that Indian school leavers have a smooth transition to work life.

Ensure that youth are equipped with 21st Century skills like critical thinking, social-emotional, problem solving, digital and entrepreneurship to meet the demands of present, and future job markets.

School Education

Work towards strengthening systemic capacity to deliver quality education for all at state, district, and sub-district levels.

Focus on customized local-level solutions for school improvement, curriculum design aligned to the rapidly evolving needs of the job market, and individualized and need-based teacher training and management.

Vocational Skills

Enhance vocational programs' quality and market-relevance through standardization of competency standards, application-based teaching and learning material, high-quality trainers and assessors, and increased industry interface.
